Snail Pie is one creation menus made from snail as the main ingredient. There are so many kind of menus made from snail such as snail soup recipes, snail satay, snail soup with vinegar, snail butter, etc. You should like to try to make this snail pie, due to it is really difference with other pie.The delicacy of this pie will be more tasty with the yabbie leek. Therefore the name of this pie is Snail and Yabbie Leek Pie

Snail Pie Ingredient

  • Sesame seed
  • egg 1 only ( beat it )
  • Puff Pastry Seeds
  • one cup of hunter colsch
  • ¾ cup of sea snail ( just the meat )
  • Yabbie ( also the meat ) 1 cup only
  • Chicken Stock ,one cup only
  • Curry powder 1 cup 1 leek – cut in half length and then those halves cut in half length then sliced
  • Carrots 2 and dices
  • Celery 2 sticks only and diced also
  • sweet potatoes 3 and diced also
  • Saffron
  • flower 30 g
  • butter 30 g also
  • peas ¾ cup only
  • garlic clove 1 and crush it
  • Pinch of Thyme
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning
  • Pinch of Cumin

Method of cooking

  • Preheat a pan ( do not too hot for this moment ) pour with olive oil, place sea snail and yabbie as the main ingredient
  • Seasoning it with pepper, cumin, and sea salt.
  • Fry off leeks for a few minutes then and chopped of garlic then continue frying
  • Add celery, carrot and potatoes
  • Cook and continue stirring to make all the ingredient becoming good mixture
  • Now making a rue. Just Melt the butter in a pot and then add in flour.
  • Continue cooking for sever minute, add in hot chicken stock and beer mixing till you have already thick stock with saffron pre soaked in warm water, curry powder, salt and pepper. Add some of juice from cooked meat.
  • Place the sauce to the vegetables and mix snail and yabbies through.
  • Add the sauce to the vegetable and then mix the snail and yabbies and continue cooking until the vegetables are cook
  • There is one thing that you need to be considered that before you fill your pie dish, you need to turn it upside on the puff pastry sheet and it is much better to cut around it leaving a ring for around 1 cm out from the dish.
  • Rub the egg ( beaten egg ) around the sides of the pie dish. You can do it by using spoon. For this snail pie You also need to fit with a puff pastry lid sealing it to the sides with the mixture of the egg.
  • It is the time for you to slowly brush to of pie with the mixture ( egg mixture) and cut a cross in the lid so that steam will escape.
  • Sprinkle with the seeds of sesame before place in hot oven. Place in the oven until the pie can be taken easily and the color is becoming brown. Now enjoy this snail pie
