Ingredients 

  • Chicken thigh 8 pieces skinless bone in
  • Oil 1 tablespoon
  • Spring onion 5 pcs (sliced)
  • Plain flour 2 tablespoons
  • Chicken stock cube 2 pcs
  • Carrot 2 large size (cut it into baton shape)
  • Potato 400 gram (halved)
  • Frozen pea 200 gram
  • Grainy mustard 1 tablespoon

For garnishing, you also need to prepare parsley, chives, tarragon or dill. Chopped those fresh herbs and sprinkle it on top of the dish later.

How to Make

If you have prepared the entire ingredients, then follow the instruction below to make it.

  1. Put your casserole on top of the stove and start frying the chicken thigh. It is better to close it with lid to fasten the process.
  2. Stir the flour, white of spring onion, and chicken stock cube. Stir it constantly until the flour disappears.
  3. Pour 750 ml hot water in the casserole. Throw the carrot and potato. Cover the casserole and cook it for about 20 minutes.
  4. Take off the lid simmer it for about 15 minutes. After that, throw pea and wait for about 5 minutes. You can season it and stir in the mustard, the fresh herbs that you have chopped, and the green spring onion.

Well, if you prefer to make this casserole recipe, then you should prepare some ingredients like (5 servings):

  • Celery stick 2 pcs (sliced thickly)
  • Onion 1 pc (chopped)
  • Carrot 2 big size (halved and sliced)
  • Bay leaf 5 pcs
  • Thyme 3 sprigs
  • Vegetable oil 1 tablespoon
  • Butter 1 tablespoon
  • Plain flour 2 tablespoons
  • Tomato puree 2 tablespoons
  • Worcestershire sauce 2 tablespoons
  • Beef stock cube 2 pcs
  • Stewing beef 800 gram

How to Make It

  1. Preheat your oven to 160 Celsius.
  2. Put your kettle on the stove.
  3. Grab your casserole and throw onion, carrot, bay leaf, 1 thyme sprigs, celery on it. Pour vegetable oil and butter.
  4. Soften it for about 10 minutes and then stir in the flour. Stir in tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce, and the beef stock cube.
  5. Pour 600ml hot water on the casserole and tip in the beef stew. Simmer it and after that put it inside of the oven for about 2 hr and 30 minutes.
  6. Cook it again for about 30 minutes to an hour until the beef look tender enough to be eaten.

You can make special vegetarian casserole recipe if you cannot eat beef and chicken casserole. The vegetarian casserole is even simpler than the other two casserole recipes. For making the vegetarian casserole, you only need to prepare some ingredients like (4 servings):

  • Olive oil 1 tablespoon
  • Onion 1 pc (chopped)
  • Garlic clove 3 pcs (chopped)
  • Smoked paprika 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin ½ teaspoon
  • Carrot 3 medium size (sliced)
  • Stick celery 2 medium size (sliced)
  • Red pepper 1 pc (chopped)
  • Yellow pepper 1 pc (chopped)
  • Cheery tomato 2x 400 gram (peeled)
  • Vegetable stock cube 250 ml
  • Courgette 2 pcs (sliced thickly)
  • Thyme 2 sprigs
  • Lentil 250 gram (cooked)

Well, the vegetarian casserole recipe is truly having more ingredients than other two. However, it will be much more delicious than other casserole recipe too.

How to Make It

  1. Grab a big pan and start cook the onion with oil for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add other ingredients like garlic, thyme, carrot, peppers, celery, and spices. Cook it again for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add cherry tomato, vegetable stock cube, and fresh thyme. Do not forget to stir in the courgette too. Cook it for 20 minutes to 25 minutes.
  4. You need to take out the thyme sprigs and then stir the lentils. Bring it to simmer and you are ready to serve it.
